Enjoy the local delicacies that Mechelen has to offer!

Diversity is an asset! Mechelen has been a melting pot of different cultures for centuries. Taste snacks from all corners of the world and get to know the multicultural food culture!

Depending on the day and time you book this tour, the snacks we taste may vary. We eat “on the road,” for example Spanish tapas, Moroccan pancakes with dipping sauces, Armenian sweets, a chocolate treat from a local chocolatier, … and we also get to know the local entrepreneur wherever this is possible. The snacks replace a lunch, but please note: we usually eat on the street, standing or while walking.

Along the way, we also drink a local beer or a non-alcoholic alternative in the local brewery or in a typical café.

Our guides are true locals with a big heart for Mechelen. They know the city inside out. Each guide adds their own accents based on their own life experiences and background.

Highlights of this tour:

  • Get to know multicultural Mechelen and its entrepreneurs
  • Taste local snacks and a drink
  • Spot the most famous monuments: St. Rumbold’s Tower, library Predikheren, Kazerne Dossin, the Beguinage, …
  • Stroll along the Dijle and its canals

Important information:

  • Departure and arrival at the Fonteinbrug on the corner of the Bruul and the Vijfhoek.
  • Total walking distance: +/- 5 kilometers.
  • We eat our snacks on the street, we stop for a drink at a café or in a brewery.

Prices

    For 8-9 people – €55 per person
    For 10 or more people – €50 per person
    If your group is < 8 people, a base price of €550 applies. Prices include three snacks and one drink (choice of city beer, soft drink, or coffee/tea). Maximum of 25 participants per guide. Multiple groups can be accommodated simultaneously.

What if it rains?

In Mechelen, it almost never rains 😉 But if it does, the tour will continue as planned. In that case, make sure to wear appropriate clothing and bring an umbrella.
